Eyedaptic unveils the EYE5 glasses with EyeSwitch™

The latest model in the Eyedaptic product showcase boasts comfort without sacrificing usability and adds brand-new artificial intelligence features.

Laguna Hills, CA — October 24, 2022 —Eyedaptic, Inc., is excited to unveil the all-new EYE5 smart glasses at the American Academy of Optometry 2022 Annual Meeting and Expo. Together with Augmented Reality Glasses manufacturer Rokid, Eyedaptic has partnered to deliver a technology solution to an issue biology can’t solve. The latest model brings wearability to a whole new level and covers the widest range of use cases for central vision loss including Diabetic Retinopathy and Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD).

Eyedaptic is a Southern California-based developer of game-changing augmented reality eyewear, designed in conjunction with ophthalmology retina specialists and optometrists, to aid those with retinal-related vision challenges. “People value their eyesight over ten times more than any of their other senses. The EYE5 gives my patients with visual impairments access to life-changing technology to enhance their vision. The ability to acquire the smart glasses through their eye care provider makes it more attainable as well” explains Dr. Mitul Mehta, MD Vitreo Retinal Surgeon and Eyedaptic’s Chief Medical Officer.

Equipped with patented simulated natural vision software, the Eyedaptic EYE5 solution optimizes the user’s functional peripheral vision through a small embedded camera that captures an individual’s environment, manipulates and enhances the pixels and re-displays the image, all enabled with hands-free controls. The newest product includes novel artificial intelligence and computer vision algorithms, such as facial detection, to allow the user to see what they have been missing. The newest features integrate seamlessly, while adding powerful technology, to Eyedaptic’s popular custom User Interface. Furthermore, the EYE5 still offers the EyeSwitch 2-in-1 functionality combining a wearable and a hand-held visual aid all in one product, thereby eliminating the need for multiple products for different tasks.

With the availability of Eyedaptic wearables, patients with retinal diseases can now be referred to solutions that enhance their quality of life, easily and unobtrusively. Recently, Eyedaptic was awarded its 6th patent grant. This latest patent extends the technology for Hybrid-See Through, helping to enable Augmented Reality for vision impairments and low vision applications.

Jay Cormier, Eyedaptic CEO says “we are proud to partner with California Bay Area-based Rokid who specializes in the research and product development of Mixed Reality and Artificial Intelligence. With the mission of “leave nobody behind”, Rokid provides the extreme user experience, superior products, and robust enterprise solutions for developing communities. Featuring best-in-class, high-resolution 1080p displays with a wide field of view coupled with a high-resolution autofocus camera, augmented reality has never been more accessible to make a positive and powerful impact on a broad range of industries.”

“Clinical studies have been conducted to demonstrate the utility and efficacy of Eyedaptic smart glasses. The clinical data demonstrated over a doubling in visual acuity and a five times improvement in daily activities. Because Eyedaptic eyewear is designed to be hands-free and not impede mobility, they are ideal for those managing a wide variety of tasks whether it be seeing a movie, grocery shopping, reading a restaurant menu or working at a computer. We are happy to be part of the mission of enhancing vision to revitalize life” says Liang Guan, Rokid North American Vice President and General Manager.
